Mr Raju's Visit

Published on by Ramesh

Mr Raju (see Mr Raju: Biography ) has been practising farming in the Fukuoka method for over 20 years, in Madya Pradesh. Fukuoka has visited his farm, declaring it the best in India. We invited him here last week for a few days to discuss Natural Farming, both the problems we have faced, and to share ideas. He was here to witness the sowing of the soy, mung and rice crops, the sowing of various vegetables, and some harvesting of the wheat. We also made clay pellets with vegetable seeds inside, and ones with acacia tree seeds inside. The acacia will be used for three purposes: to create a 'living fence' to keep in some goats we are thinking of having; to provide fodder; and to sow on hillsides that have suffered from landsides and erosion. So we will be very busy over the next few weeks, and will document everything for the benefit of others.
